It pays to shop around when looking at service providers, whether that be for power, builders, tradespeople, schools or in this case broadband providers. Shopping around is a way for the customer to get the best service from a provider for the least cash.
Whilst looking around, as you do, at broadband service providers, what their speeds are like, the costs and customer service standards, I came across what people are saying about Shell Energy Broadband, an ISP that has apparently taken over the customers of Post Office Broadband. I must admit that I was absolutely shocked by what I read and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many one star reviews for a product, not just a broadband product but any product.
The complaints are legion. The complaints range from slow speeds, sometimes in the low sub 1 Mb level, connection dropouts, overcharging and wrong charging and absolutely terrible customer service. On top of these problems there are reports of customers being charged £276 in order to get out of a contract for a product that really doesn’t seem to be fit for purpose. Customers cannot access the online services that they should be able to expect to access because Shell’s service and infrastructure is so damned bad.
I will certainly not be going with this company even though they are probably cheaper than the competition. Having seen the reviews and the unrelenting negativity of their disgusted customers I would not recommend people use Shell Broadband. Even taking into account that customers of any company or service are more likely to speak out if they are dissatisfied, the sort of comments and the sheer number of negative ratings being given to Shell’s services point to this being not just a waste of money but also a source of frustration.
