Penny Dreadful’s piss poor judgment on display.

Penny Mordaunt MP, former Tory leadership challenger.

Whatever their politics, one of the things that we should expect from a Prime Minister is that they don’t make obviously poor judgement calls in either big or much smaller but still impactful things. Penny ‘Dreadful’ Mordaunt has recently amply illustrated why she should not be Prime Minister by using quite excitable terms, such as ‘murder’ to describe what would happen to the Tory party if she was not elected. This use of the word ‘murder’ in this context is bad enough as there are plenty of other ways that Mordaunt could have described a hypothetical demise of the party, but to do this on the day before an annual debate in honour of a murdered MP is really really bad. It makes her look incompetent and not on top of detail. It makes her look as if she can’t pick staff who can reasonably be assumed would not make a cock up like this.

This incident, along with her tendency to supporting wokery, her antipathy towards protecting women’s rights and being popular among the remainer / rejoiner elite classes, is enough to make me dread what will happen should Penny Mordaunt become Tory leader and Prime Minister. If she’s making bad judgement calls in her own election campaign, then how much worse could the effect of her bad judgment calls be if she was leading the country?

  1. Well, I regard the whole thing going in the UK as pretty bad and undemocratic ATM. A new Tory party leader and hence PM is being elected from the Tory party voters themselves. Never mind anyone else and the support for a majority government in a parliament has usually in the past necessitated a General Election. Arguably it is a broken system where a new PM can be put in place without a democratic mandate?

  2. It’s entirely possible the Tory party will now elect Sunak after massive persuasion has been applied to the members. Then they will expect the millions of pensioners who were promised the triple lock and then betrayed by Sunak to vote for them at the next general election. I have never seen such a sleazy, out of touch party in all my life long interest in politics. The well worn phrase ” you couldn’t make it up” doesn’t even come close to these people.
