I’m not sure that I want him back to be quite honest

Boris Johnson back? No thanks.

There’s much media speculation about former PM Boris Johnson might be fighting in the next, the second this year, Conservative Party leadership election. If he wins then technically it is interesting but for me no more than that. I ceased to be a Boris Johnson fan ages ago. Personally I really don’t want him back. Outside of Brexit he’s been a great disappointment in many areas from energy security to culture issues via the devastated economy caused in part by lockdowns. Of course I can clearly see that Britain has some structural problems which have been building up over the last twenty years or so, but Boris Johnson didn’t make those structural problems any better and in some cases made things worse.

No I really don’t want him back. He might have the personality that attracts votes from certain voters but he and his party is not getting mine this time around. Like many others who voted for the Tories on the grounds that they could actually conserve what is good about Britain, I’ve been bitterly disappointed. They have not delivered what they promised, not just at the 2019 election but at previous elections in the 21st century which the Tories have won. They have not delivered on energy security, migration control, the economy or freedom of speech or law and order. I see no reason to trust them this time. I see no benefit to myself or to my fellow Britons to be bought off with empty promises on the above-mentioned issues of the sort of Tory party that we’ve had from at least the time of Cameron.

  1. Spot on comments both about Boris and the Tory party. The problem really is just who do you support among today’s politicians? They all seem to be entirely out for their own ends or indulging in playground games of one kind or another. A plague on all your houses is probably the most appropriate answer but I guess we will need to vote for someone. Reform will probably get my vote as I can’t support any of established parties anymore.

Thank you. I really struggle to find anyone I could support in either of the main parties. That wasn’t always the case Labour had people like Peter Shore and other great thinkers whose appeal crossed political boundaries and the Tories had their equivalents, people who merited support. But I can’t say the same for today’s big two. Parties devoid of both talent and principle the pair of them. Yeah I’m voting for an ‘alt’ party as well. Been lied to too many times by the Tories to give my vote for them next time.
