I have no love for the city of Bristol. No, scrub that, it’s too mild a comment. I hate the place. I have to go there with my family for personal reasons at least twice a month and my heart sinks every time I have to go. The place is dominated by crime and at least two types of Communist, the Marxist kind and the Climate kind, all of which go a long way to make the city an unpleasant place to visit and to have to have any dealings with. The place is so bad that I make sure that I get there at least an hour before my appointment in order to be able to park right under the CCTV cameras of the organisation we have to visit. I’ve even had people, piss-head potential thieves I believe, lunge at the car doors and grab at the antennas on the car even whilst I am sitting in the damn vehicle after parking up when I’ve parked just a street away from the location where I need to be. This is something that I’ve not experienced even in East London when I lived there.
Bristol is a hell hole of a place to have to visit or do business and according to a communication by a women’s rights group, things are about to get much worse. According to a representative of a group called Women’s Voices Matter, Bristol City Council passed a motion on July 5th of this year stating that the council will not to business with any organisation or company that holds the belief that biological sex is a material reality. The council’s motion also accepts without question the idea that a person can change their gender just by declaring themselves as their chosen gender. This is the localised imposition of a self ID policy with regards gender which ignores and sidelines those who have genuine questions and worries about the impact of Self ID on women, children and those who believe in biological science.
This motion doesn’t just make the council the arbiter of the opinions of suppliers or other organisations that have dealings with the council, they also elevate the rights of those who call themselves ‘trans’ over and above the rights of women and girls. The council is also forcing gender ideology on children in schools run by Bristol City Council.
I can’t see this ending well. This policy will mean the exclusion of religious groups such as Orthodox Jews, who in general believe in the reality of biological sex, from civic life. It raises the prospect that the Orthodox Jewish community, which is quite healthy numerically in Bristol, might be excluded from civic events such as Remembrance Day or other similar gatherings because the council may perceive that Orthodox Jews are unwilling to go along with the extremes of the cult of gender ideology. I hope that it does not come to that but Bristol City Council are taking a position that lays open a path for anybody, not just those who have religious belief, but anyone or any entity that is critical of the gender identity cult, to be cut off from council support, or the right to be consulted by the local authority on matters relevant to them.
Bristol is a mess and the decent people who live there deserve much better than what the coalition of Greens and Labour have given them. Bristol has been turned into to a terrible place riddled with crime and infected with political extremism that afflicts everything from the priorities of the council to the conduct of the local police. This new gender identity policy that the council wish to impose on the city will be yet a further step on a path to degradation that will put a political whip into the hands of trans activists and queer theory types who clearly do not have the interests of anyone but themselves at heart. Bristol City Council have by their July motion turned women, children and those who dissent from the gender identity cult into second class citizens and that is something that ordinary people should start to get angry and concerned about.
I am sorry to hear about your experiences in Bristol but with government in denial and the police having withdrawn from the streets this is becoming more common in many areas. My town is not quite that bad yet but it’s well on its way and like you I try not to go there if I can possibly avoid going. I wrote to our Chief Constable to inform him of the problems and he replied saying he didn’t believe it was like that. He doesn’t live here and prefers to say what he does as it makes his life easier. Caesar must hear no bad news is still a popular policy it seems.
Bristol would be better without the constant churn of middle class lefties (second grade of course) who gravitate to the local university who, as in Brighton, cyclically vote for Labour and the Greens. The leftie students rarely end up having to live long term under the sort of regimes tht they vote in. This ‘leftie student weighting’ that seems to be a thing in university towns makes me wonder whether to make electoral contests fair to those who live there full time rather than give too much electoral weight for those, like students, who are only there temporarily. One thing that could be done would be to require students to vote in their home constituencies rather than their university ones. Of course should the now ex student decide to stay in their university town and become, for example a driver for Bristol’s trans dustbin lorry (it identifies as a milk float every second Tuesday of the month) then they get the local vote.
RE the CC. Your mistake there was to expect a Chief Constable to know where the crime is. They might know the password for the expense account or the latest diversity or trans guff that arrives in their offices but rarely, in recent years do they know much about proper crime.
Thank you for your reply, it was rather silly to expect much from the CC after all these days they are no more than career politicians.
It used to be said that ‘if you want to know the time ask a policeman’. Now it could be said that if you want to know the latest in diversity faddism then ask a senior police officer.
Here is more over Trans issue.
Jesus Could Have Been Transgender, Claims Cambridge Dean
The dean of Trinity College said such a view was ‘legitimate’ after a row over a sermon by a student that claimed Christ had a ‘trans body’
Jesus could have been transgender, according to a University of Cambridge dean.
Dr Michael Banner, the dean of Trinity College, said such a view was “legitimate” after a row over a sermon by a Cambridge research student that claimed Christ had a “trans body”, The Telegraph can disclose.
The “truly shocking” address at last Sunday’s evensong at Trinity College chapel, saw Joshua Heath, a junior research fellow, display Renaissance and Medieval paintings of the crucifixion that depicted a side wound that the guest preacher likened to a vagina.
The wilder shores of theology can contain some very odd things. However this looks like some academic theologian getting infected with the mind virus of trans ideology and trying to hammer it into whatever academic and theological ‘hole’ they can find, whether it fits or not in a similar manner how some members of Britain’s Jewish Left try to hammer the square peg of socialism into the round hole marked ‘Torah’. See Corbyn’s pet Jews here for an example https://www.fahrenheit211.net/2019/10/01/tuchus-lekkers-corbyns-laughable-and-deluded-pet-jews/
I can’t remember who said but someone once said that there are some ideas ‘ that are so stupid you would need to be an academic to believe them’.
