A cracking World War II drama for you and to mark the return, although probably not weekly due to time availability, of this blog’s Friday Night Movie strand.
Operation Secret, made in 1952, tells the story of an American Marine, fluent in French and German and a former French Foreign Legionaire, who takes part in an undercover operation with the French Resistance and who finds himself, post war, being accused of the murder of a fellow resistance member. The movie is told in large part in flashback and follows this American through service with the Resistance and to the incident that leads to him being accused of murder.
I won’t put too much here about the plot in order to avoid spoilers but it’s a great film with lots of good dramatic and action scenes and some very interesting plot twists.
Good to see Friday Movie Night recommendations. With internet streaming services awash with classic movies there has never been a better time to enjoy some of the old time greats.
