The left are getting onto the outrage bus over the issue of some comments made recently by Talk TV presenter Mike Graham and someone he is interviewing on a podcast. In these comments, both Mr Graham and the other person forcefully laid into the Greater London Mayor Sadiq Khan. They called him a ‘dwarf c**t’ and gave their opinions on both the massive rise in violent crime that London has been afflicted with since his election in 2016 and also criticised Khan’s ULEZ scheme which the pair, quite rightly in my view, called it a revenue raiser rather than anything to do with clean air. They also called out, as many others have, Khan’s tendency to engage in hyperbole such as when he called the opponents of his ULEZ disaster ‘far right’.
Here’s the ‘incident’ in question. Be aware that this audio is VERY sweary and therefore NSFW.
Although leftists are getting really upset about this expression of opinions about Sadiq Khan, there’s not much difference between what Mr Graham and his companion are saying and what regular Londoners are saying to me about Khan. Khan is utterly hated by a lot of working class Londoners but he’s hated not because of his race or religion, he’s hated because of the damage he’s done to London, the economy of London and the security and safety of Londoners. In fact I would go so far as to say that the opinions that have been expressed privately to me about Khan are a whole lot more ‘pungent’ than what Mr Graham and his pal have said.
If Mr Graham is in the business of reflecting Londoners opinions about Khan then he’s succeeded. The Leftwaffe might be getting their knickers in a twist over this but at the end of the day he’s bang on the target with his criticisms of Khan. Khan has been a complete disaster for London and I’m old enough to remember other bad leaders of the Capital such as Ken Livingstone.
Khan, Boris, Livingstone – so far all of the London Mayors have been either bad or really bad. I can’t understand why they get elected. Are the alternatives worse?
Out of all that you’ve mentioned only Boris Johnson was half decent and even then it was a tenure mired in scandal and incompetence some of which only emerged later on when Johnson had moved on to greener pastures. It’s a different picture if you go back further than Livingstone. Under Cutler, Goodwin and Fiske and Plummer you had politicians from both Labour and the Conservatives who may not have always succeeded in making London better but they were a damned sight better than Livingstone and Khan and especially better than Khan.
You don’t think that there might be an increase in reported crime because there is an increase in criminality? You must have to walked around with your eyes closed these past many years not to have seen or heard of more & more criminal activity. It’s impossible to stop crimes occurring, nobody ever thinks they’ll get caught, or just doesn’t care. As to getting caught, what’s the typical description? Black hoodie, grey trackies and white trainers. Wearing a mask. Well that narrows it down a bit..
. Ask the parent(s) where their little brats are at night or during the school hols.
The mayor isn’t some sort of surrogate parent.
As for low traffic neighbourhoods and the like. Yes, an absolute pain from a personal perspective, but probably neccessary if we don’t all want to choke to death.
Progress is rarely painless. Think about the coming of the railways
There will always be crime but the key question is how does a society tackle crime. Whilst there have been times in London’s past that ahve been more violent than they are today but what is noticable about Khan’s period is the nature of the violence. It’s no longer the occasional crime of passion or the professional criminal work of ‘The Twins’ or the Richardsons. It’s violence that is wide spread and affects a large number of innocent individuals and families. It’s teenagers stabbing and shooting each other in monstrously high amounts and as Khan is effectively the Police and Crime Commissioner for the capital then it can fairly be said that his admin must bear some responsiblity for not controlling this problem especially as it has appeared to get worse under his watch.
Agreed parenting is a problem but society and government doesn’t exactly help either by backing up parents who want to be old school disciplinarian parents or runnign a criminal justice system that doesn’t intervene robustly enough at the earliest possible time in a young criminal’s career.
LTN’s are not even just a pain from a personal prospective. They penalise the disabled, delivery workers, the elderly, those who need to move large stuff or lots of kids regularly adn generally make the city worse than it should be. They also funnel traffic onto peripheral roads thereby increasing the amount of traffic and pollution (although cars made after 1990 or so are much less polluting than older vehicles as for economy reasons they burn fuel more effectively)
LTNs and such like are not progress, they are regress and therefore completely different fro mthe railways
Sad Dick Khan’t is after two things. The first is to destroy a democratic, western based, society, and turn it into a socialist run fiefdom. In this, he and Livingstone would have got on very well. The second is finding excuses to make money to finance the first, plus make a few bob on the side. The only difference between him and Dick Turpin is that Turpin wore a mask.
