Are the SNP about to implode?

The Scottish National Party has often been connected with allegations of, well, dodginess. There’s been rumours of this sort swirling around about the culture in the party for years.

Well if these stories and sources linked below are correct then it’s quite possible that the SNP are going to implode.

  1. Sadly I think the answer is ” no”.
There has been enough evidence around for years for a more thinking voter to realise that the SNP is dodgy, yet the Scots – despite a fair reluctance to actually become an independent nation (not that they would be if the SNP got its way since the SNP wants to run into the welcoming tentacles of unelected and unaccountable Brussels, but hey ho) – keep massively voting for them, so clearly the Scots must like having them in charge (and, presumably, the failures that result; health, education, ferries,…) or else like the victimhood narrative that the SNP peddles flat-out all the time (I call it the “Och, pouur wee Scotlan'” approach) to at least exonerate themselves for voting SNP.

Then again, who else to vote for. Labour – no, actually Hell no. Lib Dems? The party that is two lies for the price of one – HELL no. Conservatives? Since Thatcher, bloody hell no!
So who can be voted for?
Perhaps the Scots just despairingly vote SNP out of despair with all the others.

I sometimes think that if “none of the above” was an option on the ballot we would find out what voters really think about ALL the parties. (Actually I know that wouldn’t be the case, but it’s a thought that helps with my despair over the state of what passes for politics.)

You could be correct and that the Scots will vote SNP out of habit. You are also correct that over the years little mud has stuck to the SNP but things could be different this time. Labour in particular might be seen as much more credible a choice this time. The big guns of the previously ruling SNP clique seem to be resigning in large numbers which has not IIRC happened before or at least not on this scale. The scandals could catch up with the SNP and if they do it will be interesting to see if ex SNP votes go to Labour?
