I’ve used the Spartacus Educational website for research for a long while. It is a site that does, at least from my perspective, lean somewhat to the Left but it’s what I would call ‘fair Left’ rather than ‘far left’. Yes of course there is a viewpoint bias in this site but that does not make that much of a difference to me provided that the core information is relatively accurate.
One of the articles that I found myself unable to tear myself away from is the Spartacus Educational piece on a history of free speech in Britain. It’s excellent and apart from a few typo errors in the section on the English Civil War, provides a comprehensive precis of the history of the fight for freedom of speech in the United Kingdom.
This is a piece well worth a read and I hope others enjoy this too.

Have you discovered “History reclaimed”?
I find that an interesting site on the actual historical record rather than the myths promulgated by those with an ideological bent.
I’m aware of it but I’ve not dug down deeply into their stuff although I know that they’ve got a lot of credible names behind them
