I was shocked, shocked I tell you to find out that a member of a Black Lives Matter aligned group from the less than delightful Commie and Green run crap hole that is Bristol, has confessed to swindling £30,000 of donations given to a BLM group she was involved with. This money poured into this group following the lefty tantrum there that saw the statue of the Bristol philanthropist Edward Colston dumped in the dock.
According to Guido Fawkes “Xahra Saleem pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of power, as the money she raised on her GoFundMe page, which was supposed to go to youth charity Changing Your Mindset Ltd went straight into her pocket instead. The charity has since closed down…“
I had a look at the charity that the money was supposed to go to and I was not impressed. I agree that it may have provided a safe space for young Black Bristolians but the sort of kids who are bumping along the bottom of society need much more than cooking lessons, racial grievance enhancement and a jolly to West Africa (which as many will know is where Black Africans were enslaved by other Black Africans and sold into the Transatlantic Slave Trade). I would have been more impressed if this group, Change Your Mindset, had set itself up to counter the deficiencies of the local state education system and local poverty in order to make the lives of its clients much better than they are. But, bye the bye, whatever the problems as I see it with this particular charity Saleem should not have taken money that was not hers but was expressly intended for the Change Your Mindset charity.
To tell the truth, I was being somewhat sarcastic earlier. I’m not that shocked by this case as having observed the growth of the BLM movement and its offshoots and fellow travellers, one thing I’ve seen as constant with them, is a large amount of grift and fraud. All too often with these BLM and associated groups there has been a sudden inrush of money into these groups, money that has often been donated by rich White liberals and that money has been either mishandled and misspent or has been deliberately defrauded. Not only have donations to BLM and associated groups been a waste but it is the diversion of money that could have been used to better ends and indeed used to better the lives of our nations Black citizens or subjects.
When I look at BLM in the USA for example I see very little good that has been done by them for Black Americans. BLM has got very few low status Black Americans into employment or back into education nor has it helped to rebuild shattered and suffering Black communities or help to rebuild the Black family. Very little of the vast amounts of money donated to BLM in the USA has gone to improve the lot of Black Americans, but these donations have proven very lucrative to those in charge of BLM and its inflated bank accounts. Looking at this Bristol case and the money diverted from charitable work and into Saleem’s own pockets, just as happened with BLM in the USA, leaves me shaking my head and having to say ‘I told you so’.
