Happy Passover 2024

As we are just over half way through the Jewish festival of Passover (it ends on April 30th)  I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all my many Jewish readers a very happy and kosher Passover.

It’s been a bit of a busy time for us here at Fahrenheit Towers what with all the cleaning and preparation for Passover and also as Passover doesn’t coincide with the Easter school holidays this year due to the differences between the Hebrew and civil calendars, we’ve had the extra job of preparing kosher for Passover packed lunches for our son.  We’ve also had a tin foil disaster because I went and bought bargain basement tinfoil to cover our kitchen work surfaces which ripped to shreds was I rolled it out forcing me to buy better tin foil.

We had a small family Passover Seder but in common with many other British Jews we set an empty place at the Seder table in memory of  those hostages in Gaza who will be missing from their own family’s Seder table this year.

May all those who are currently celebrating Passover have a good one.  I’m currently approaching the getting cheesed off with Matzah stage of the proceedings but life eating the ‘bread of affliction’ is only for a few more days then I can go buy some normal bread and fire up the toaster and make toast.

LOL nice one. A talking toaster is probably the first thing that I’d bury in the damned garden if it piped up during Pesach.

  1. Not sure if it’s relevant to the current discussion but I really, really dislike toasters. You never know when the slice is going to pop up and land on the kitchen floor. I do all my toasting on the grill pan, so much easier to clean and a possibility for such creative toppings.

That’s very much my view as well. You can be creative with toast with a grill in a way that you can’t with a toaster. We’ve got a toaster (safely locked away until Wednesday LOL) but it rarely gets used and even then I’m unhappy with the evenness of the toasting. I do hanker after a toasted sandwich maker for toasted cheese sarnies.
