What ‘lovely’ people the Labour Party appears to have as supporters.

Raja Miah is an independent candidate for Parliament for the constituency of Oldham West and Royton. I first became aware of this man about nine months or so ago when I came across his Twitter account. His feed was chock full of allegations of wrongdoing in the Oldham area and at first they seemed fantastical. Surely I thought it could not be true that the political scene in Oldham was controlled by criminals and that those criminals had influence with the local police, the Labour Party, the local media and the local authority?

Now I cannot say from where I am with any degree of certainty that these allegations are true but Mr Miah is alleging that there are a lot of people, some with political influence, who are trying to stop him speaking about matters he’s concerned about in the town. Some of what Mr Miah is concerned about is a failure by Greater Manchester Police to effectively tackle Islamic Grooming Gangs in the town, an undue influence on local politics by shadowy Pakistani Muslim groups and allegations of associations between leading local politicians and criminals associated with the cop killer Dale Cregan. Mr Miah, who was born and bred in Oldham, is standing for Parliament as an independent to challenge what he says is a culture of corruption in the town.

Whether Mr Miah’s allegations are true remains to be seen but it’s pretty clear that there are elements in the local political community and culture that really doesn’t want Mr Miah to have any chance whatsoever of gaining votes. One of his canvassers, an elderly man, was attacked by some thugs who told the canvasser that ‘this is a Labour town’.

At the bottom of this piece is a link to Mr Miah’s Twitter/X feed and it makes for worrying reading.

If Mr Miah’s account of what happened is correct then to have thugs going around assaulting or threatening people for supporting candidates other than Labour ones is not a very good look for Labour. The Labour Party should comment on these allegations and make it clear that intimidation should play no part in the democratic electoral process. If this story is correct then it may well show that, despite the image of moderation that Labour show to the public via the mainstream media, the Labour Party at least in some constituencies has some extremely questionable friends and supporters.

  1. 👍

  2. Giving the image of a moderate labour party is probably the right tactic for them to win against a genuinely moderate labour party that is pretending to be conservative.
As usual the public will be crapped on from a great height.

  3. Welcome to Bradford

  4. Shhhhh! You MUSTN’T say nasty things about progressives, it must be racist, or something, to do so.
More seriously, I noted this in the “X” post of Miah:
“The mainstream media won’t say a word because they are politically aligned and/or on the payroll of the Council.”
The second clause is clearly fantasy, the MSM (BBC, SKY, et al) are definitely NOT on the payroll of Oldham council, politically aligned, yes, but paid shills (or silencers) definitely not.
IMO, Miah undermines his cause when he makes such statements and thus I find myself treating what he says with sceptism.
