I like the writing of Momus Najmi. He often speaks with a lot of wisdom and his stuff I believe is worth reading even if you might not agree with it. Like many he’s unhappy with how the UK is panning out at the moment and he put up a post on X recently that is probably worth sharing.
He’s right when he says that the current situation might be making people take stances that they might not wholly be comfortable with. He’s also correct about how the English have a good nature but that there are bad actors taking advantage of that good nature. He’s also got the right idea about the need to reconnect with English culture. We can’t rely on the Establishment to do this and the culture is not being promoted in the churches for example there the English will have to do the job of culture preservation and transmission that once could be safely left by the English to Establishment institutions.
Here’s what Momus said on the X platform:
The worst thing for me personally about this whole current situation in England is that it is pushing me to be someone I don’t like being. I don’t like taking extreme stances on various social aspects.
My nature is believing that every soul is salvageable, and to convince people, with as much love and tough love where needed, towards your side of thinking. Learn from their perspective to help you self reflect as often as possible. And not to be too prescriptive because everyone have different journeys and their own life experiences have led them to look at things differently.
So, you need to give enough space. But no longer do we have the ground to take such Christian approach in full earnest. We are being forced to present ourselves too harshly because our adversaries are trying to take advantage of our good nature. I want to remain conscious. That in the process it doesn’t take me too far away from myself. That my soul is not corrupted.
This is the worst aspect I find. It is making the people here act out of character. They don’t really want to which is why we see so much reluctance from the silent majority as well. It is not in their nature. But they are being forced to act out. And the more government and other public authorities keep ignoring people and pushing people to a corner, the more they will act out of character. And I fear it will push many to do things they would later regret.
This is what I dislike the most. The English are nice people and they are pushing them to the extreme. And it will ruin everyone’s relationship with each other. This for me is the highest crime of the far left. And this is the reason why for more than a year now I have been telling people to go back to your churches. Because now more than ever you can’t just rely on traditions being passed down becoming part of your nature, you have actively be connection with your traditions and understand your core values so that you have the opportunity to self reflect on your nature often.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
