Many apologies for the temporary disappearance of this blog. It wasn’t anything sinister and I hadn’t had a fit of madness and run off to live under a tarpaulin in the local woods* it was a cumulative cock up between a bank, a hosting company and a change of policy by the hosting company to only accept credit cards rather than debit cards. The problem now seems to have been solved.
I’ve been taking the opportunity by being off air on what is called Web2.0, the standard current internet, of exploring the decentralised blogging world of Web 3.0, Decentralised social media and web pages might be something that will become more and more important over the next few years if censorship in some Western nations like the United Kingdom ramps up. Some people might find the ability to have a censorship-proof self expression medium available to be a really positive thing. To this end I signed up with the HIVE community and started a blog there. You can find this decentralised blog at this address https://peakd.com/@mrfahrenheit211
I’d like to thank the lovely Israeli gentleman who is an absolute wizz at decentralised internet and crypto who managed to get this particular ‘appliance operator**’ started on Hive. A few beers or coffees will be going your way the next time I visit the Land of Israel. I’ll also be sending a small donation to the charity of this person’s choice for all their help.
Over the next few days I will be copying the blogposts that I made on the Hive based platform onto here and going forward I shall be duplicating all the posts made on here onto my Hive based decentralised platform as well. The reason for the duplicate posting is because I truly believe that the decentralised system is going to be a winner, censorship-wise it’s bombproof, nobody can take down what is written and also having two outlets gives me a lot more reach. I will also be doing a post on what it is like for a ‘normie’ to interact with a platform and a system that can have quite a steep learning curve, or at least it was steep for me.
So again I’d like to say sorry to all the friends and fans of this for going on the missing list and to my detractors I’d like to say that if you thought I’d gone away then you were wrong.
* The idea of spending some time away from it all under a tarpaulin in my local forest does appeal somewhat but the downside is the only animal that lives there which is Kosher for me to eat runs too damned fast for me to catch. In any event I doubt the local Constabulary would look too kindly to a scruffy geezer in a Kippah running around the forest with a big knife and a net LOL.
** An ‘appliance operator’ is an old derogatory term for a Citizens Band radio operator who knows bugger all about their radio or their antenna but just about knows how to operate the on/off, squelch and channel changer. It means that the person could work an appliance but knows nothing more than that about working their radio. When it comes to some aspects of computers I afraid that I am that appliance operator.
I thought you’d been removed by government forces!
Not yet.
It’s nice to have you back. Thought that you have gone walk-about, or just had enough of the madness of this world.
Thank you. The madness of the world does get me down sometimes and occasionally I do take some time off but I hadn’t gone walkabout this time
Welcome back.
Many thanks
