Sorry I’ve been away for a bit but my wife and I have had a bereavement in our friendship circle of someone we’ve known for decades and I have been heavily involved in this matter. However I’m now back and it’s time to look at the final score for this year’s Ramadan death toll.
As I’ve pointed out here in the past there are no other modern day religions apart from Islam that have a death toll from religiously inspired violence as part of their major religious festival. We don’t have Christians killing for Jesus at Christmas nor do we have Jews, of any type, killing non-Jews or the ‘wrong’ sort of Jews at Passover or at Succot. Only Islam has a massive death toll associated with its major festival, Ramadan.
Ramadan 2024 was relatively peaceful as Ramadan goes but Ramadan 25 has been utterly horrific. The death toll from Islam-inspired violence during this Ramadan, which ended on March 29th and as reported by the Religion Of Peace website, is 2007 people killed by Islamic radicals. Many of those who died will have been either non-Muslims or those Muslims who the fundamentalist Muslims believe are not Muslim enough.
Last year’s death toll during Ramadan was bad enough at 808 but at 2007 Ramadan 2025 has been the highest death toll since 2020. No other modern religion has adherents that behave like this and the Ramadan death toll most surely undermines any claim made that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’.
