I’ve recently heard a rumour that a particularly left wing British Jew is calling for other British Jews to ‘pray for the poor Palestinians’. When I heard that this was being requested I thought very long and hard about whether this was the right thing to do and came to the conclusion that it was not. In fact I believe that this is not just a wrong thing to do but completely and utterly mad.

These ‘Palestinians’ do not want peace. They’ve been offered land for peace on numerous occasions since the refounding of the State of Israel in 1948 and have refused every olive branch proffered to them. They were even offered total control of the Gaza Strip in 2005 in the hope that self-government of ‘Palestinians’ by ‘Palestinians’ would bring peace. Sadly things didn’t work out like that. The ‘Palestinians’ of Gaza elected the terror group Hamas who went on to in October 2023 to commit the biggest mass murder of Jews since the end of the Shoah.

Of course I will not pray for the ‘Palestinians’ that would be utterly stupid. Praying for the ‘Palestinians’ would be as morally inverted as praying for the safety and security of Amalek, the ancient foe of the Israelites who attacked the Israelites after the Biblical Exodus from Egypt. Sadly the Amalekites or those like them arise in every generation and have taken the forms of Christian militants, Islamic jihadis, Communists and National Socialists and just like the Amalek of old they seek to destroy the Jewish people. Why on earth should I pray for the safety and security of people like that? I’d no more pray for the ‘Palestinians’ than I would invite the shade of Adolf Hitler to my son’s Barmitzvah.

I don’t know why this person is exhorting British Jews to pray for the ‘Palestinians’. Maybe it’s virtue signalling or possibly misplaced and suicidal empathy for these ‘Palestinians’ is at play here but a prayer for the ‘Palestinians’ is not one that will pass my lips. I’ll gladly pray for the Israeli Defence Forces to destroy every one of these ‘Palestinians’ who take up arms against Israel and the rest of the civilised world, but I will not pray for those who are clearly my enemy.

לא, אני לא אתפלל על עמלק כמה שתבכה ותתחנן בפניי שאעשה זאת. לאחרונה שמעתי שמועה

שיהודי בריטי שמאלי במיוחד קורא ליהודים בריטים אחרים ‘להתפלל למען הפלסטינים המסכנים‘. כששמעתי שזה מתבקש חשבתי הרבה מאוד אם זה הדבר הנכון לעשות והגעתי למסקנה שלא. למעשה אני מאמין שזה לא רק דבר שגוי לעשות אלא מטורף לחלוטין. ה‘פלסטינים‘ האלה לא רוצים שלום. הוצעו להם אדמה לשלום בהזדמנויות רבות מאז הקמתה מחדש של מדינת ישראל ב-1948 וסירבו לכל ענף זית שהוצע להם. אפילו הוצעה להם שליטה מוחלטת ברצועת עזה ב-2005 בתקווה שממשל עצמי של ‘פלסטינים‘ על ידי ‘פלסטינים‘ יביא שלום. לצערי הדברים לא הסתדרו כך. ‘הפלסטינים‘ של עזה בחרו בארגון הטרור חמאס שהמשיך באוקטובר 2023 לבצע את הרצח ההמוני הגדול ביותר של יהודים מאז תום השואה. כמובן שלא אתפלל עבור ‘הפלסטינים‘ שזה יהיה טיפשי לחלוטין. תפילה למען ה‘פלסטינים‘ תהיה הפוכה מבחינה מוסרית כמו תפילה לשלומו וביטחונו של עמלק, האויב הקדום של בני ישראל שתקפו את בני ישראל לאחר יציאת מצרים המקראית. למרבה הצער, העמלקים או כאלה כמוהם עולים בכל דור ולבשו צורות של חמושים נוצרים, ג‘יהאדים איסלאמיים, קומוניסטים ונאציונל–סוציאליסטים ובדיוק כמו עמלק של פעם הם מבקשים להשמיד את העם היהודי. למה לעזאזל אני צריך להתפלל לביטחונם וביטחונם של אנשים כאלה? לא הייתי מתפלל למען ‘הפלסטינים‘ יותר מאשר אזמין את הגוון של אדולף היטלר לברמצווה של בני. אני לא יודע למה האדם הזה קורא ליהודים הבריטים להתפלל למען ה‘פלסטינים‘. אולי מדובר באותות סגולה או אולי אמפתיה שגויה ואובדנית ל‘פלסטינים‘ האלה משחקת כאן אבל תפילה ל‘פלסטינים‘ היא לא כזו שתעבור על שפתי. אני אתפלל בשמחה לצבא ההגנה הישראלי שישמיד כל אחד מה‘פלסטינים‘ הללו שנוטלים נשק נגד ישראל ושאר העולם המתורבת, אבל לא אתפלל עבור אלה שהם בעליל האויב שלי.
